1990-1992 Manager of Developer Relations at NeXT's European headquarters near London (after summer 1990 in Nice/Sophia Antipolis, France). Responsible for evangelizing European corporate developers, VARs and ISVs. Active participation at conferences and fairs.
1989 Privately purchased one of the first NeXT cubes manufactured by Steve Jobs to familiarize myself with the ground-breaking NextStep operating system and underlying BSD-Unix. [NeXT/Apple historical note collection: 1 2 3 4 5 ]
1987-1990 Product Manager of Development Tools (Turbo C and Turbo C++ compilers, Debugger, Profiler) at the German branch of Borland International Inc. Responsible for localization, beta testing and market introduction. Hired and lead a team of seven Developer Support Engineers.
1984-1987 Software Developer at SOFTRON GmbH. Developed several modules of a commercial real-time data acquisition and device-control software package for use in chemical analysis (HPLC = high pressure liquid chromatography). Languages: C and Assembler.
1982-1984 Implemented data acquisition software and hardware extensions for the Bavarian National Broadcasting Company (Bayerischer Rundfunk).
1977-1982 Implemented controller hardware and peripheral device drivers for Megatron KG, Munich. Platforms: Apple II and CP/M. Language: Assembler (6502, Z80).
Supported Megatron's CEO on a product evaluation trip to Silicon Valley in 1978 with a focus on early speech recognition and speech synthesis subsystems.
